Katsina: Police Neutralise Seven Suspected Bandits, Recover 109 Rustled Animals

The Katsina State Police Command reported on Saturday that it successfully neutralised seven suspected bandits after thwarting their attack on Ruwan Dorowa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area.

The operation also led to the recovery of 109 rustled animals, including 61 cows, 44 sheep, 2 donkeys, 1 goat, and 1 dog.

According to the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, a distress call was received on January 18, 2025, at around 9:00 AM, alerting the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters of an attack on Ruwan Dorowa Village by armed bandits, wielding AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in coordination with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Katsina Community Security See Corps, and local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the scene.

The team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralisation of seven suspected bandits.

The remaining assailants fled with varying degrees of injuries, leaving behind the stolen livestock.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the bravery, professionalism, and teamwork displayed by the operatives during the operation.

He reiterated the police commandโ€™s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public and urged citizens to continue providing timely and useful information to assist in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
