Kidnappers in Anambra State have boldly defied Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s newly launched Operation Udo ga achi, kidnapping a man in Aku village, Ezinifitte community, just two days after the security initiative’s launch.
The abduction took place on Sunday at around 11 pm. The victim was held captive and driven around in his vehicle while negotiations for ransom ensued. Thankfully, he was released by 7 am on Monday.
A cousin of the victim recounted the ordeal, stating, “The kidnapped victim has thankfully been released this morning, but not without a heavy cost.
“His entire account was emptied through a POS transaction linked to a MoniePoint account.”
Though the amount of ransom paid has not been disclosed, the cousin expressed gratitude for the support received, saying, “I deeply appreciate all your prayers, messages, and offers of help during this difficult time. Your support means so much.”
The cousin also sought advice on recovering the funds lost during the ordeal.
The state police command has yet to comment on the incident.
