Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, widely recognized as Basketmouth, has recently expressed his thoughts on social media regarding the shocking revelation made by Afrobeats star Innocent “2Face” Idibia, who confirmed his separation from his long-time spouse, Annie Macaulay-Idibia.

In recent days, social media has been rife with intense discussions, speculation, and accusations as both Annie and 2Face endure significant scrutiny concerning the disintegration of their marriage.

Their relationship, marked by public disputes, allegations, and emotional upheavals, has led fans and critics to hastily assign blame, analyzing every previous misstep in their romantic journey.

However, Basketmouth, who is also dealing with the aftermath of his own highly publicized divorce from his wife of 12 years, Elsie Okpocha, chose a different path.

On his Instagram account, the seasoned comedian called for restraint and compassion, urging critics to cease the blame game and allow the couple the space to heal, not only for their own well-being but also for the sake of their children and extended family.

While offering his support to 2Face and Annie, he humorously noted that his only personal concern was the unfortunate timing of 2Face’s announcement, which coincided with the promotional activities for his own upcoming comedy concert.

“I have been receiving lots of emails and DMs; people dey ask me, ‘Bright, why don’t you want to get involved in these Tuface and Annie’s matters?

First of all, to address you people, I am not in any position to get involved. I am not qualified at all, me especially. Make I no go talk the one wey go make people remember my own, con drag my head.

This 2025, wey we just enter, it’s a New Year and I am just trying to have undraggable year. So please, don’t push me.

You know I have known Tuface for almost half of my life, 27 years, and Annie for 24 years, and I respect and love these guys. My heart goes to them. If I am going to get involved in any way, it is to address you guys wey dey talk too much for their matter. Let’s just back off. They have got kids, they’ve got a family. Everybody just dey talk, Toke talk, this one dey talk, other things dey to talk about.

Personally, Tuface did me a strong thing. Personally, he fucked me up because, based on the fact say me and him don be men for a long time, e should have called me and told me what he wanted to do or post, and I would have put him through. I would have told him not to post it now and post it around late February because I get a tour; I have a show in Manchester on the 14th, and I have a show in London and other cities.
