A 42-year-old man, Ogundare Anuoluwapo, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly sexually harassing his neighbour’s wife.
The defendant who is facing charges of sexual harassment pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Prosecutor Sgt. Alice Ojo told the court that Anuoluwapo committed the offence on December 8, 2024, at about 5:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
According to Ojo, the defendant persistently made sexual advances toward Mrs. Esther Sikiru, his neighbour’s wife, and allegedly threatened her while requesting sexual intercourse from her.
The prosecutor stated that the alleged act violated Section 270(1) and (2) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
She requested an adjournment to allow her to review the case file and gather witnesses.
In her plea, defence counsel Mrs. Adunni Olanipekun appealed for bail on behalf of her client, and assured the court that he would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Anuoluwapo bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until February 20, 2025, for mention.
