The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested one Yunusa Haruna, 25, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, to death.
The Command disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar.
Haruna from Bakin Turu village in the Shanga Local Government Area (LGA) of the state reportedly attacked his brother with a sharp knife during an altercation, leading to the victimโs death.
In another incident on January 8, at about 4:30 pm, Abubakar Umar, 25, of Jarkasa in Zuru LGA, reportedly stabbed Mohammed Bala in the head with a knife during a disagreement, killing him instantly.
โUmar is also accused of injuring Mohammedโs younger brother, Samaโila Bala, during the altercation.
โOfficers from the Zuru Divisional Police Headquarters promptly apprehended the suspect following the incident,โ the statement said.
In response to these events, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani condemned the violent acts, calling on community members to seek peaceful conflict resolution instead of resorting to violence.
He encouraged the residents of Kebbi State to report grievances to the appropriate authorities for resolution instead of resorting to self-help.
The Commissioner further tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to investigate both casesโ circumstances.
The command added that suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order while urging the public to cooperate by providing credible information to aid security efforts.
