Late Nigerian Singer Mohbad and his Father Joseph Aloba

Mohbad’s Father Says His Life Improved After Son’s Death

Joseph Aloba, the father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has disclosed that his life has significantly improved since his son’s tragic death.

Aloba made this known during an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, on Wednesday.

“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend,” Aloba said.

“He had plans to do many things for me, but they didn’t allow him to. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad and that of God combined that began to send people to assist me.”

He recounted how well-meaning Nigerians gifted him a car, a truck, and other items.

“Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.

“Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them,” he said.

On Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family, whom he accused of controlling the singer’s assets, Aloba revealed that all of Mohbad’s landed properties, including a plot the singer purchased for him to build a church, are now in the possession of his wife’s family.

He lamented that the same land was used for Mohbad’s burial after his death on September 11, 2023.

He said “They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mold the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him.

“Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and told me he was going to buy it after the completion of his tour, for which I know he had completely paid.”

The late singer’s father shared how Mohbad’s birth inspired his journey into music after funds from his son’s naming ceremony were stolen.

He recalled how Mohbad started performing as a backup singer for him at just one year old.

Aloba, who identifies as a carpenter, singer, and pastor without a church, expressed how his son had promised to build him a place of worship.

He said he has since channeled his emotions into music, and has released nine tracks since Mohbad’s passing.

During the interview, Aloba showed off his newly established block industry, along with a Toyota Highlander and a truck gifted by well-meaning Nigerians. He attributed the blessings to the spirits of Mohbad and God.

Mohbad died on September 11, 2023 at the age of 26 under controversial circumstances in Lagos.

An alleged unlicensed nurse alleged to have administered a tetanus vaccine to the singer before his death was later arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
