NAFDAC seals Abuja pharmacy, arrests MD for selling expired drugs

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested the managing director of a pharmacy in Abuja for allegedly selling expired and unregistered drugs.

In a statement released on Saturday, NAFDAC announced the pharmacy, located at Onitsha Crescent, Area 11 โ€“ Garki, had been sealed for selling harmful products.

Following a tip-off, NAFDACโ€™s enforcement team conducted a raid, uncovering over seven million naira worth of expired items, including โ€œH-Pyloriโ€ test kits, which posed a serious public health risk.

Despite attempts by pharmacy staff to monitor the operation, NAFDAC successfully confiscated the expired products and secured the premises.

Both the managing director and superintendent pharmacist were arrested for questioning, with NAFDAC promising stringent sanctions to deter such unethical practices.

The agency has urged the public to be vigilant when purchasing regulated products and report suspicious activities to their local offices.
