The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has attacked the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), urging them to adopt a more coordinated approach to political activities following their recent court defeat.
In a statement released Tuesday by the Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi and made available to Naija News, the party described the APC’s actions as frivolous and indicative of disarray within the opposition.
The criticism stems from a case filed by the APC at the Federal High Court in Osogbo, which sought to halt the upcoming local government elections.
The court dismissed the case on Monday, a decision the PDP believes underscores the APC’s lack of focus.
Bisi did not hold back in his critique, advising the APC to reassess its governance and opposition politics approach.
He further suggested that the APC “go back to the drawing board, if any, to restore some optical sanity in their mode of operations.”
Bisi said, “It is laughable, unthinkable and ridiculous at the same time for the Apc to be praying court to revisit a matter the same court has dispensed with, which has been appealed by the same Apc, with judgement being awaited on the same matter”. We must however caution that this appeal being awaited as far as we are concerned is a dejavu academic exercise, which surely will end in futility for the Apc, as the same Appeal Court has dismissed similar suit containing similar prayers on the same matter recently.
“But for some neuro cramps, how on earth would a rejected political party asked court to reinstate its sacked Yes or No local government puppets and at the same time demand stoppage of allocations to the same local governments.
“In another breath, the same Apc was asking the court to stop a local government election they have been part of the process from the beginning in which they held a press conference to announce their readiness to participate and have even nominated candidates in the same election.
“It appeared to us that the only driving force for the confused Apc is the local government allocation they intend to corner for themselves as they have always done while in the saddle in Osun, without any good plan for the state and the people.”
Naija News further reports that Osun PDP called on well-meaning Nigerians and other APC elements, who are still mentally alive and not lost in the confusion ravaging the party, to prevail on their handlers to take a sensible detour and first define the party’s interest, either to destroy the state because people voted them out of power or to destroy themselves through self-loathing.
The PDP also enjoined all other political parties with candidates in the forthcoming local government election to rise above the APC’s desperate propaganda against the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) and its chairman and rally around the Commission for a successful February exercise.
