PDP Accepts Court Verdict, Reaffirms Ewor-Led Rivers State Executive

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its acceptance of the recent Rivers State High Court judgment nullifying the partyโ€™s Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses conducted in 2024.

In a statement issued on January 16, 2025, and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC affirmed the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to pilot the affairs of the party in the state, in line with the courtโ€™s ruling and the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

The court, in Suit No. PHC/2301/CS/2024, delivered its verdict on January 13, 2025, nullifying the congresses held on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024. The NWC described the judgment as a reaffirmation of the PDPโ€™s commitment to transparency, internal democracy, and adherence to the rule of law.

The party called on its leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters in Rivers State to unite behind the Ewor-led executive to ensure the stability and growth of the party. It also urged the new leadership to work toward uniting the party in the state and supporting the administration of Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara in delivering democracyโ€™s dividends.

โ€œThe NWC charges the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to work hard to further unite the Party in the State so that the people of Rivers State can continue to enjoy the massive dividends of democracy as being delivered by our performing governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,โ€ the statement read.

The PDP commended its members in Rivers State for their steadfast commitment to the ideals of the party and expressed optimism in achieving continuous success in the state.
