A 44-year-old private security officer, Damilola Otegba, has been arrested for attempting to rape a 6-year-old girl within the premises of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Otegba allegedly lured the child into a building on campus, where he attempted to sexually assault her.
The attempted assault was interrupted by a female student, who alerted authorities.
The child’s mother, a food vendor on campus, reported the incident to the police.
The FUNAAB Harmony Division promptly arrested Otegba and initiated an investigation.
The minor was taken to the school clinic for medical examination, and the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution.
