Police Arrest Two Suspects with 85 Stolen Livestock in Gombe

Two suspects have been apprehended with 57 stolen goats and 28 sheep from Tulmi community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The Gombe Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a press statement issued in Gombe.

Abdullahi explained that the suspects were detained in Tulmi on January 25, following a tip-off from the village head, Malam Abubakar Umar.

He added that the two suspects were intercepted by Yayaji Muhammad, a member of the Tulmi Hunters’ group, while four others remain at large.

Upon interception, the suspects were found with 28 sheep and 57 goats, totaling 85 stolen animals, which have been recovered as evidence.

The spokesperson further noted that during the investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime. Additionally, four individuals have identified and reclaimed 25 of the goats.

Abdullahi assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects for prosecution. He also urged Gombe residents to continue sharing valuable information with security agencies to aid in the fight against crime in the state.
