The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has paraded 25-year-old Blessing Kojoh Oghenefejiro for allegedly trafficking her six-week-old baby.
Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, revealed the arrest of the suspect along with 17 others at the Ekpan Division in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Edafe explained that the case unfolded on January 9 when the suspectโs boyfriend reported that Oghenefejiro had claimed their child had died and was buried. However, growing suspicious, he began searching for the child and discovered that Oghenefejiro had sold the baby to a couple. She allegedly misled the couple, telling them that she had been gang-raped by four men, leading to the pregnancy, and that she was unable to care for the child.
During her interrogation, the suspect confessed to selling the baby for N10,000. She remains in police custody as investigations continue.
