The Nigeria Police Force has foiled a bandit attack in Katsina State, neutralising seven armed bandits and recovering 109 rustled livestock in a successful operation on 18 January.
In a statement released on Monday, Force Headquarters disclosed that the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call about an impending attack on Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Officers, in collaboration with other security operatives, swiftly mobilised to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun battle. Seven were neutralised, while the rest fled, abandoning the stolen livestock.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted the operation as a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing.
He said, “This operation is a clear demonstration of our continued efforts to confront armed banditry head-on.
“The police operatives responded promptly to the distress call, and their courage and dedication to protecting the citizens of Katsina State resulted in the successful neutralisation of the bandits.
“By neutralising the bandits and recovering the livestock, we have not only protected the people but also disrupted criminal operations in the region,” he added.
The stolen livestock has been returned to the rightful owners, marking a significant success in the fight against banditry.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to combating criminal activities such as banditry, human trafficking, and armed robbery. Adejobi assured Nigerians that the Force remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens. We will continue to take a firm stance against criminal activities and ensure that all offenders are brought to justice,” he stated.
Authorities also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasising that public collaboration is key to achieving lasting peace and security in Nigeria.
