IT has been claimed in England that Manchester United and Napoli could swap Marcus Rashford and Victor Osimhen.
At the moment, both players are out of favour at their current clubs, with Rashford frozen out at Manchester United and Osimhen loaned out to Galatasaray by Napoli.
According to British tabloid The Sun last night, Manchester United are keen on Super Eagles striker Osimhen, and Napoli are open to taking England forward Rashford in exchange.
This claim is coming amid earlier reports that Rashford, believed to be rated at around £60 million, snubbed three offers from Saudi Arabia — reportedly worth up to £675,000 reportedly pee week — because he wants to win back his England place.
A move to another European club would give Rashford a platform to do that with Napoli’s former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte looking at a deal for the disillusioned star, The Sun added.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who has seen his side struggle since he replaced Erik ten Hag in November, is said to be desperate to strengthen this month and Conte’s interest in Rashford, 27, has opened the door to signing Osimhen.
The Nigeria international — who has a £62m release clause — is on loan at Galatasaray but United could land the 26-year-old this month.
Osimhen has scored 65 goals in 108 Serie A matches for Napoli since joining from Lille for €80m in 2020.
The newspaper added that Amorim would love to work with Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres again but agreed he would not sign players from his former club until the summer at the earliest.
The Portuguese is short of goalscorers and dropped Rashford over his “standards” for the 2-1 Premier League derby win at Manchester City on December 15.
Rashford has not played under Amorim for five games since saying in an interview that he was open to a new challenge — despite three straight league losses leaving United 14th in the English Premier League and facing a relegation battle.
