Veteran Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze, has shed light on the reason why he stepped away from the music scene, clarifying that his departure was a choice, not a defeat.
In a recent episode of โCuriosity Made Me Ask,โ hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Arinze revealed that his shift from music to acting was a deliberate move to channel his energy into his passion for performance on screen.
โI didnโt fail as a musical artist. I left music on my own volition. If I wanted to do music, I would have continued.
โI read theatre art at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. I left school, I did well. I went into my music on my own volition. When I decided to concentrate on my acting career, I concentrated on my acting,โ he explained.
The multi-talented entertainer hinted at a future return to music, although he emphasized that his comeback would be driven purely by passion, not profit.
โI can always go back to music. I didnโt fail. Iโve two albums. I suspended it [my music career]. When I feel itโs time, I will go back. I still sing. The voice is still there.
โI will be going back to music but I wonโt be coming into it for commercial reasons. I will return to music just because I want to sing, not because I want to make money,โ he added.
Arinzeโs reflections highlight his enduring connection to music, proving that his artistic journey is far from over.
