Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima will engage in bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums during the annual gathering.
“While in Davos, the Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders as well as participate in workshops and forums slated for the annual gathering,” Nkwocha said in the statement titled ‘VP Shettima Departs Abuja for Davos to Attend 2025 World Economic Forum Meeting.’
Shettima is expected to join global leaders, top business executives, and development partners to discuss strategies for improving the global economy.
A key highlight of his participation will be the workshop, “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organised by the African Development Bank and WEF.
The session aims to drive capital into Africa’s frontier markets and support sustainable, inclusive growth.
Shettima will also attend a dinner for heads of state and international organisations at Kurpark Village, Eiger, and co-chair a forum titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa.”
The forum will explore the private sector’s role in implementing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement’s Digital Trade Protocol, adopted in 2024.
As a panellist, the Vice President will participate in a stakeholder dialogue on “Global Risks 2025,” focusing on geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges outlined in the Global Risks Report.
Accompanying Shettima are Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission; and other top officials.
“Shettima will return to Abuja at the end of his engagements in Davos,” Nkwocha concluded.
