Three Arrested For Assaulting Female Employee Accused Of Theft In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the assault on a female employee of a boutique in Lagos.

The arrests followed a disturbing video that surfaced on social media on Sunday, which showed a young woman being flogged by several men.

Despite her screams of pain and rolling on the floor, the assailants continued the brutal assault without stopping.

Reports indicate that the boutique owner allegedly ordered the attack, accusing the employee of theft.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim.

โ€œThree suspects have been arrested, while efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim,โ€ Hundeyin said on X.

โ€œThe Commissioner of Police @LagosPoliceNG, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, assures Lagosians that justice will be served,โ€ he added.

A civil rights group, Take It Back Movement (TIBM), condemned the act earlier, describing it as โ€œbarbaricโ€ and called for swift action from law enforcement agencies.

The group further added, โ€œTorture is a crime against humanity and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. It has no place in any society.โ€
