Tinubu Approves ₦50bn for Potable Water in Abuja Satellite Towns

President Bola Tinubu has approved ₦50 billion for the provision of potable water to satellite towns in Abuja, including Kuje, Bwari, and Gwagwalada.

Speaking on Thursday in Kuje while commissioning the newly reconstructed 5-kilometre Garage-LEA Secretariat Road, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike announced the president’s commitment to improving living conditions in the area.

“If you see our national budget which Mr President has submitted to the National Assembly, sometime last year, we went to China, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a company called CGC to provide water to the satellite towns, and one of the area councils is Kuje Area Council,” Wike said.

He added, “In this year’s budget, Mr President has provided the sum of ₦50 billion to provide water for the satellite towns, which Kuje will be a beneficiary.”

The minister described Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as inclusive, highlighting its focus on all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation.

“It has nothing to do with party, it has to do with your people. Tinubu’s administration is not about party. It is about Nigerians. Changing the lives of Nigerians, and that is what we are doing here,” he said.

Wike also announced presidential approval for additional projects in Kuje, including the construction of the Pegi Road and the Kuje-Gwagwalada link road.

He assured residents that the Airport-Kuje link road, currently under construction, would be completed promptly.

The newly commissioned Garage-LEA Secretariat Road, which began in February last year, includes 162 solar-powered streetlights, reflecting the government’s push for infrastructure development in underserved areas.
