In a ceremony brimming with prestige and honor, President Bola Tinubu elevated his Aide-de-Camp, Lieutenant Colonel Nurudeen Yusuf, to the distinguished rank of Colonel.
The event, held on the 9th of January, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was graced by notable dignitaries, including Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Yusufโs wife, among others.
This milestone marks yet another chapter in the illustrious career of a man whose military journey is a testament to excellence and dedication.
Lt. Col. Yusufโs association with President Tinubu began in April 2023 when he was appointed ADC, just before the Presidentโs swearing-in on the 29th of May, 2023.
However, Yusufโs story stretches back to his academic beginnings, where he earned an Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Science at Offa Polytechnic before enrolling at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, in 2000.
There, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electrical-Electronics Engineering and, by 2004, expanded his horizons at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, earning his commission as an officer in the Nigerian Army.
Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge, Yusuf specialized in intelligence and security after training at the Nigerian Army Intelligence School in Lagos in 2006.
His hunger for advancement saw him complete the Young Officerโs Course in Infantry in 2007 and undertake Tactical Intelligence and Security Investigations courses in 2008.
Between 2009 and 2018, his expertise took him across the globe for advanced military training in Mali, Pakistan, China, Israel, and the UK.
In 2018, he added a Masterโs degree in Defence Studies from Kingโs College London to his growing list of accomplishments.
Yusufโs career reflects his commitment to leadership and operational mastery. From serving as Officer-in-Charge of the 119 Intelligence Group in Lagos to becoming Operations Officer at the 4 Brigade HQ in Benin, he consistently demonstrated exceptional strategic acumen.
His roles further included commanding the State House Military Intelligence Group and later, the Presidential Body Guard at the State House in Abuja in 2015.
By 2017, Yusufโs expertise was sought at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, where he served as a Grade 1 Staff Officer and Military Assistant to the Chief of Training/Operations.
As Assistant Director of Intelligence/Security, he continued to enhance national security strategies.
Before assuming his role as ADC to President Tinubu, Yusuf was stationed at the Nigerian Defence Section in Paris, France, from 2020 to 2022, and subsequently returned to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps Headquarters in Abuja.
Now promoted to Colonel, Nurudeen Yusuf stands as a beacon of military excellence, embodying the highest standards of service and dedication to Nigeria.
His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to duty.
