Tinubu Inaugurates Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a state-of-the-art military barracks in the Asokoro area of Abuja, marking a significant step in addressing the accommodation needs of military personnel.

Named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in honor of the president, the facility features 16 quarters for major generals, 34 for brigadier generals, 60 for majors and colonels, and another 60 for lieutenants and captains. It also boasts 180 flats for senior non-commissioned officers, 264 flats for corporals and lower ranks, worship centers, sports facilities, and a powerhouse.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Olufemi Oluyede said naming the barracks after President Tinubu was to “give honor to whom honor is due.”

He lauded Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare of the Nigerian Army, particularly in addressing the housing challenges faced by personnel.

“The barracks will accommodate 614 personnel — 170 officers and 444 soldiers with their families,” Oluyede said.

The COAS also commended his predecessors, Faruk Yahaya and the late Taoreed Lagbaja, for laying the groundwork and driving the execution of the project.

“Today, we celebrate the visionary leadership and relentless effort that created the foundation for us to complete and commission this project. The project being commissioned today is only phases one and two of the original plan,” he said.

Oluyede expressed optimism about the future of the Nigerian Army’s infrastructure, urging continued support from the federal government and other stakeholders to achieve similar milestones.
