Troops from the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven have successfully rescued 18 kidnapped individuals from a criminal hideout.
Major Samson Zhakom, the Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, disclosed this to journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital. He stated that the rescued victims have been reunited with their families after undergoing profiling and documentation by relevant agencies.
The operation, conducted along the border between Taraba and Plateau states, also led to the arrest of several kidnappers and the recovery of weapons, including firearms and ammunition.
Additionally, troops from Sector Five, part of Operation Golden Peace, captured five bandits during a raid on a criminal hideout in the Tarangol area of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau. Items recovered from the suspects included fabricated rifles, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, cartridges, and daggers.
In a separate incident, troops intercepted bandits attempting to wreak havoc in Jannaret, Mangu Local Government Area.
The apprehended suspects are set to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution as investigations continue.
