Trump Proposes U.S. Co-Ownership of TikTok, Offers Temporary Ban Reprieve

US President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to delay the impending TikTok ban through an executive order once he assumes office on the 20th of January, 2025.

He also proposed a groundbreaking deal that would grant the United States a 50% ownership stake in the app’s American operations.

“I envision the U.S. holding a 50% stake in a joint venture,” Trump shared on his Truth Social platform.

He explained that the delay would provide time to strike a mutually beneficial agreement before the ban on the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform takes effect.

Elaborating on his vision, Trump described the plan as “a joint venture between current owners and/or potential new investors, ensuring the U.S. secures a 50% stake through a partnership crafted with precision and strategic intent.”
