WEST HAM are plannng to make a move for Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who is currently with Nottingham Forest.
According to reports in England today, the Hammers are in desperate need of a new striker due to a shortage of options as a result of recent injuries.
Star forward Michael Antonio is sidelined for a long period after he fractured his leg in a car crash in December, while Niclas Fullkrug is out for months due to a hamstring injury.
The Sun reported that West Ham’s approach for Awoniyi was initially for a loan deal, but they have also held talks over a permanent move, with Forest demanding £20m.
Super Eagles striker Awoniyi has struggled for form this season due to persistent injuries.
He has scored just one goal in 15 appearances in the English Premier League this season, which was in Forest’s 3-0 win at Wolves on January 6.
His best season for Forest in the English top flight was in the 2022-2023 campaign when he scored 10 goals in 27 games, which helped the club avoid relegation.
