The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sigvent Industrial Cluster Limited, Mr Benjamin Onigbinde, has disclosed his plans to develop Africa’s largest industrial cluster in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Onigbinde in a statement he sent to NewsNGR on Tuesday in Abuja, said his company was committed to creating a world-class industrial hub designed to address Nigeria’s long-standing industrialization challenges.
According to him, Sigvent’s model plans to connect 50 enterprises and associated institutions, providing them with modern infrastructure that is currently lacking in the nearby city centre.
The cluster, Onigbinde said, is strategically positioned along a corridor connecting to the city, which will ease the pressure on Ogbomoso’s congested urban transport infrastructure.
He said, “Sigvent Industrial Cluster Limited works with world-class professionals, entrepreneurs, government agencies, development partners, investors and local communities to create a world-class Industrial Cluster in Ogbomoso, the second biggest economy in Oyo State.
“Our model is designed to connect 50 enterprises and associate Institutions functionality, free of infrastructure deficit of the adjacent city centre.
“The Cluster will act as a catalyst for development along the corridor that connects it to the main city and ease the pressure of existing highly congested urban transport infrastructure. In addition, the model incorporates the Free Trade Area and Research and Development Centre.
“Sigvent Industrial Cluster will establish a viable linkage with Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, this relationship will promote Research and Development, Innovation, knowledge transfer, and New Products, and it with facilitate funding for institution research and value-chain development for the cluster.”
Onigbinde stressed the importance of building industrial infrastructure to foster economic productivity, innovation, and employment.
“Nigeria urgently needs large-scale industrialization to achieve economic prosperity, improve security, and raise living standards, especially for its underserved rural and suburban populations,” he said.
