Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba has fired another warning shot at Martin Bakole ahead of their International Boxing Federation title eliminator bout in May, NewsNGR Sports Extra reports.
The ‘Silent Roller’ took to Instagram on Wednesday with a provocative message for his Congolese opponent, writing, “Coming to whoop your as* the Naija way.”
This latest taunt follows Ajagba’s previous warning when he shared footage of his devastating knockout victory over Brian Howard on social media.
The bout, set to take place in the United States, will feature on a stacked card organised by Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh, alongside high-profile matchups including Ryan Garcia vs Rolando Romero and Devin Haney vs Jose Ramirez.
Ajagba, who boasts an impressive record of 20 wins and just one loss, with 14 knockouts, has won his last five fights since suffering his lone professional defeat to Frank Sanchez in October 2021.
The Nigerian pugilist will face a formidable opponent in fourth-ranked Bakole, who has been in devastating form, particularly after his fifth-round demolition of previously unbeaten American prospect Jared Anderson in California last August.
After that victory, Bakole declared, “You don’t stand with Martin Bakole. I am a big man and I am a machine. No one wants to fight me.”
The stakes are particularly high as the winner will become the mandatory challenger for IBF champion Daniel Dubois, who defends his heavyweight title against Joseph Parker on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The International Boxing Federation recently cancelled its scheduled purse bid hearing for the bout, allowing promoters BOXXER and Top Rank to negotiate terms privately for their respective fighters.
