Balmoral to stage blockbuster Friday Fight Night

Balmoral Group and its sports entertainment arm, GameRush, are set to stage the maiden edition of ‘Friday Fight Night’, a high-stake boxing event at the Balmoral Convention Centre on February 28, Saturday NewsNGR reports.

The action-packed night will feature six thrilling bouts with Nigeria’s finest pugilists battling for title belts, headlined by Basit Adebayo against Segun Gbobaniyi for the National Lightweight Title.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the event, Ezekiel Adamu, CEO of Balmoral Group, promised fans an unforgettable boxing experience.

“Friday Fight Night will be a monthly series showcasing the best of boxing across Africa, not just in Nigeria. We are creating the right platform for boxers to shine, both locally and globally,” Adamu stated.

“This edition will feature Nigerian fighters but expect fireworks. Expect the best of boxing and top-tier entertainment on fight night.”

President of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, Dr Rafiu Oladipo, expressed delight at Balmoral’s involvement in boxing development.

“The coming of Balmoral has changed the Nigerian boxing scene, and we the NBBofC appreciate them. For me and the board, we are very happy with your efforts in the industry,” Oladipo said.

“What has happened to football that made it so popular, we will do the same with boxing.”

The Secretary General of the NBBofC, Remi Aboderin, also assured fans that all necessary safety measures, including a medical team, will be in place to handle all emergencies.

The fight card includes the National Cruiserweight Challenge between Kadima Stephen and Sunday Ajuwa, while Yusuf Adeniji and Babatunde Oni will test their strength in the National Super Bantamweight Challenge.

Other bouts feature Idowu Okusote against Muritador Monyasahu in the National Cruiserweight Challenge, Rilwan Lawal versus Taofeek Ganiyu for the National Featherweight Challenge, and Abiodun Adesoji Adeniyi taking on Fatai Balogun in a four-round Cruiserweight clash.

With this exciting lineup, ‘Friday Fight Night’ aims to become a staple in Nigeria’s sporting calendar, offering monthly boxing spectacles for fans.
