Bizman joins race to replace late Ogun rep

The Executive Director of the Olanrewaju Omo George Foundation, Olanrewaju George, has officially declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives by-election for Remo Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress.

George made his declaration on Monday, during a meeting with APC leaders in Ward 4, Sagamu.

This was disclosed in a statement he signed on Monday.

During the meeting, he reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, infrastructural development and quality representation.

“After wide consultations, I am stepping forward to serve and bring meaningful change to Remo Federal Constituency.

“Now is the time to harness the power of our youthful population and create a better future for them. This is why I am contesting the Remo Federal Constituency seat; to bring quality representation to our people. You deserve that,” George stated.

The House of Representatives seat became vacant following the death of Adewunmi Onanuga, the former representative and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, who passed away on January 15 after a brief illness.

Onanuga’s death was announced in a statement issued by the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi.
“It is with profound sorrow that the House of Representatives announces the passing of Rt Hon Adewunmi Onanuga, who, until her demise, served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, representing the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
“She passed away earlier today, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness,” Rotimi said.

George had previously contested the Remo Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 elections against Onanuga.
