Ekiti gov, lawmaker hail Fayemi at 60

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the immediate past governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, on his 60th birthday.

Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, described Fayemi as a role model, mentor, teacher, and dependable pillar of support whose counsel and support continue to add value to governance and development efforts in the state.

According to the governor, Ekiti is lucky to have a personality like Fayemi who gave his all in the service of the people and remains passionate about the socio-economic development of the State in and out of office.

Oyebanji said Fayemi’s contributions to the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 as a pro-democracy activist, alongside other prominent Nigerians, were well documented and would continue to be a reference point and a source of inspiration to the younger generation.

He noted that Fayemi would always look back with a sense of fulfillment for having the opportunity of bringing his wealth of experience to bear for the benefit of the people as a two-term governor, a former minister and ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum with sterling and glittering records of service.

On his part, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Osi, Moba, Ilejemeje Federal Constituency, Ekiti State, Akinlayo Kolawole, described Fayemi as an outstanding leader, patriot, and statesman who has impacted the state and the entire country with his commitment to good governance, social justice, and national development.

Kolawole, in a statement on Saturday, said the former minister had contributed immensely to national discourse, policy-making, and sustainable developments, and had been able to strengthen democratic institutions and governance in Nigeria.

According to the lawmaker, Fayemi’s life exemplified service, sacrifice, and an unrelenting pursuit of a better Nigeria.

“His visionary leadership as the Governor of Ekiti State set new standards in governance, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and social investments.

“Through his efforts, Ekiti witnessed unprecedented progress, and his legacy remains a guiding light for leaders at all levels. Beyond Ekiti, Fayemi has played a crucial role in deepening democracy in Nigeria.
