Ex-President Buhari Relocates to Kaduna After Two Years in Daura

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has relocated to Kaduna after spending two years in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, following his departure from office in May 2023.

Buhari, who had stayed away from political activities, arrived in Kaduna on Tuesday, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries.

Among those in his entourage were the Governor of Borno, Babagana Umara Zulum, and the Governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani. Also present were current and former Deputy Governors of Katsina State, a former Inspector General of Police, former ministers, and several aides.

Confirming his return, Buhari’s former aide, Bashir Ahmad, said “Today, former President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to his Kaduna residence after spending two years in Daura, Katsina State, since leaving office in May 2023. After completing his tenure, he opted for a quiet life in his hometown and largely stayed out of active political discussions, focusing on private engagements.”

During his departure from Katsina, Buhari was seen off by well-wishers, including Mallam Mamman Daura, Musa Halilu (Dujiman Adamawa), and Bashir Ahmad.

His move to Kaduna places him closer to key northern political figures and leaders.
