First Lady empowers 500 Nasarawa women with household items

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 less-privileged women in Nasarawa State with household items to support their livelihoods.

The empowerment packages include deep freezers, standing gas cookers and ovens, grinding machines and generating sets.

Speaking during the presentation of the items at the Government House, Lafia, on Friday, Oluremi Tinubu said the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The First Lady, who was represented at the event by the Nasarawa State First Lady, Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, said the items distributed were meant to ameliorate their socio-economic challenges.

While urging the beneficiaries to use the items to better their lives, and not to sell them, Tinubu commended the women for their continuous support to sustain the existing peace and unity among all ethnic groups in the state.

“The aim of distributing these items is to empower every one of you and improve your social-economic status. The Renewed Hope Initiative will continue to support and empower less-privileged women in order for every one of us to have a better society.

“I, therefore, appeal to all the 500 beneficiaries not to sell the empowerment items so that soon, they will also be able to contribute positively to the state and Nigeria at large,” she said.

In her welcome address, Nasarawa First Lady, represented by the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Women Affairs, Elsie Monde, lauded the wife of President Bola Tinubu for the empowerment programme.

While assuring the state’s women’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu-led administration, she maintained that the items presented would go a long way in addressing the economic challenges of the beneficiaries.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Emmanuel Yonah, pledged the continued support of the ministry to the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Tinubu-led administration for optimal productivity.
