Ganduje: NNPP Senators, Reps Will Soon Join APC

The Kano State political scene may see significant changes as Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted that New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) lawmakers will defect to the ruling party.

Ganduje made this statement on Sunday at an APC event in Kano, where Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin distributed cars and motorcycles to party members.

Speaking at the gathering at Meena Event Centre, Ganduje claimed that NNPP legislators, including senators and House of Representatives members, would soon leave their party and join the APC.

“They are coming to our party in thousands,” Ganduje said. “And very soon, we shall receive many senior officials of the party and legislators—senators. They will leave the dying party, NNPP, to our party, the great APC.”

The event was attended by APC members, including Kano APC Chairman Prince Abdullahi Abbas and Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections. Doguwa said the APC would win in the state before midday on election day.

Senator Barau, who organized the event, said it was part of a broader plan to support Kano residents. “This is just the tip of the iceberg,” he said, adding that more assistance would be provided for youths, students, farmers, and traders.
