Gombe Police Command, Galaxy Backbone Discuss Cybersecurity for Public Safety
The Gombe State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police (CP) Bello Yahaya, recently engaged Galaxy Backbone (GBB) Limited in discussions aimed at leveraging technology to enhance public safety.
The visit to GBB’s North East Regional Office and Safe City Emergency Command Centre highlighted the growing role of technology in modern policing.
During the visit, CP Bello Yahaya was warmly received by Mr. Ibrahim Bello, Regional Coordinator of GBB North East Regional Office, and other team members. Discussions focused on strengthening the security infrastructure in Gombe State, fostering innovation, and building the digital capacity of the police command.
The Commissioner toured the Safe City Emergency Command Centre, an advanced facility established under the National Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB) project.
The Centre boasts cutting-edge surveillance systems, real-time monitoring tools, and integrated emergency response mechanisms designed to boost security operations in Gombe State and the North East region.
“The Safe City Command Centre provides law enforcement with real-time intelligence, proactive threat detection, and seamless inter-agency collaboration,” said Mr. Ibrahim Bello. “This ensures a more effective and responsive approach to public safety.”
CP Bello Yahaya underscored the significance of technology in contemporary law enforcement. “Leveraging ICT solutions is essential for strengthening policing efforts, enabling data-driven crime prevention, and improving crisis management,” he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of embracing digital transformation, improving connectivity, and expanding training programs to equip officers with the skills needed to utilize technology effectively.
Galaxy Backbone reaffirmed its commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies through secure ICT solutions and capacity-building initiatives. “Through high-speed connectivity, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud-powered command centres, we aim to enhance public safety,” said Mr. Bello.
Both parties pledged to deepen their collaboration by optimizing ICT-driven surveillance, strengthening emergency response systems, and expanding digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
“This partnership will undoubtedly enhance the capacity of the Gombe State Police Command to combat crime and ensure public safety,” CP Bello Yahaya remarked, reiterating the significance of the synergy between technology and law enforcement.
