Kano Anti-Graft Agency Arrests Local Government Chairman Over N100M Land Fraud 

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) on Friday arrested the Chairman of Kiru Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed, over allegations of illegally selling land worth over N100 million, originally designated for the Kafin Maiyaki Mini Stadium, SolaceBase reports.  

The commission’s spokesman, Mr. Kabir Abba Kabir, confirmed that the council chairman had been detained and was currently undergoing interrogation.

He stated that the commission discovered that the funds from the land sale had been deposited into Mohammed’s personal account.

According to him, a company named Mahasum, along with other individuals, purchased the plots of land allocated for the mini stadium.

He further revealed that Mohammed’s account had received over N240 million between November 1, 2024—when he was sworn into office—and February 27, all of which had since been recovered.

Kabir added that Mohammed was cooperating with the investigation, which aimed to uncover the truth behind the fraudulent land sale and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
