NCDMB unveils ICT centre to boost student skills in Bayelsa
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board unveiled a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology centre at Community Secondary School, Sangana, Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, on Wednesday.
The launch marks a transformative step towards bridging the digital divide in the region and improving digital literacy among students to prepare them for global competitiveness.
The facility is equipped with 31 desktop computers, a Wowbii Interactive Board, a printing system, and a solar-powered inverter with a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted operation.
NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by the General Manager of Corporate Communications, Barr Esueme Dan Kikile, emphasised the board’s commitment to community development.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation with critical technological skills,” Kikile stated.
He urged the school and community to prioritise the maintenance of the facility, stressing that the NCDMB would monitor its usage and evaluate future upgrades.
The school principal and community leaders praised the project, noting that it has the potential to enhance students’ academic performance and morale.
A local chief said: “This centre will open doors for our youth, equipping them with tools to thrive in a digital world,” while stakeholders pledged their support to safeguard the facility.
The board stated that the establishment of the ICT centre aligns with its mandate to foster sustainable development through education, positioning Sangana students at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital evolution.
