Otti, Kalu mourn Adebanjo, Clark
Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, and the senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, have expressed their deep sorrow on the passing of a revered elder statesmen, Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation and chairman of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum respectively.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, Governor Otti expressed deep sadness over the demise of Pa Clark, who he described as a patriot and elder statesman, stating, “Pa Clark’s passing is a great loss to the nation, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Delta State, the Ijaw nation, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He also commiserated with the family of Pa Adebanjo and Afenifere over the passing of the elder statesman.
Similarly, the former governor of Abia State and Senator Kalu also commiserated with the family of the late PANDEF leader, Pa Clark, noting that the late politician served Nigeria and Niger Delta meritoriously in different positions.
The former governor added that the late federal Commissioner of Information would be remembered for his contributions to the socio-political and economic development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
Earlier, Senator Kalu had expressed his deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Adebanjo.
Kalu, who is also the chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatization and South East Development Commission, described Pa Adebanjo as “a patriotic leader, a strong advocate for democracy, and a symbol of national unity.”
He also acknowledged the late elder statesman’s “lifelong dedication to justice, equity, and good governance,” noting that “his contributions to Nigeria’s socio-political development would remain indelible.”
The senator, in his statement, lamented, “The passing of elder statesman Pa Adebanjo is a great loss to Nigeria. He was a fearless leader who stood for truth and fairness at all times. His wisdom, courage, and commitment to national unity will be greatly missed.
