Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has thanked family, friends, and dignitaries who joined him to honour the life and legacy of his late eldest brother, Sunday.
In a statement on Monday via X referencing a Thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, Makinde said that while his brother’s sudden passing was shocking, the family remained thankful.
“As the Bible says, in everything, give thanks. While his sudden death was shocking, we do not mourn like those who have no hope. May Sundo’s soul continue to rest in peace,” he said.
On February 7, Makinde announced the burial of his brother, reflecting on his impact and legacy.
“We laid our eldest brother, Sunday Makinde, to rest today. As I said in my remarks, Sundo has lived and left. But his works live on, and his deeds will go well with him. Rest well, Sundo, until we meet to part no more,” he stated.
The governor also thnaked dignitaries who attended the funeral, including Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday Onyeme.
Makinde thanked them for taking time out of their busy schedules to support his family during the funeral rites.
