Pillars suspend Abdallah over poor form, fans gesture

Former Nigerian champions Kano Pillars have suspended their coach Usman Abdallah for three weeks, nailing him for their recent poor run in the 2024/25 season as well as a bad gesture towards the fans on Sunday, NewsNGR Sports Extra reports.

The club announced Abdallah’s suspension after their goalless draw against Bayelsa United at home, with his assistant and former player, Ahmed Garba also known as Yaro Yaro taking over in the meantime.

“The management of Kano Pillars FC have suspended the club’s technical adviser, Usman Sheriff Abdallah for three weeks over poor results and his gesture towards the fans after the Sai Masu Gida’s 0-0 draw against Bayelsa United,” the club announced via X on Sunday.

“Chief coach Ahmed Garba Yaro-Yaro will take charge of the team.”

Kano Pillars have failed to win in their last two games.

They were humbled 4-1 by newly promoted side Ikorodu City in Lagos on Wednesday before their goalless draw against Bayelsa United on Sunday.

Their recent run of results have seen them drop to the 10th position on the log with 29 points after 21 games.

Yaro Yaro’s first test in his interim reign will be a visit to the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne next Sunday to face league leaders Remo Stars.
