Remo share halftime talk against Abia Warriors
Nigeria Premier Football League table toppers, Remo Stars have released the video of the halftime talk of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, which fuelled their 3-2 comeback win over Abia Warriors on Wednesday, NewsNGR Sports Extra reports.
The Ikenne-based side clawed back from two goals down at home against their visitors with Togolese striker Franck Mawuena sealing the win with a towering header in the 56th minute.
In what was their first game at home in the second stanza, Ogunmodede’s side slipped to two early goals against the Warriors but began their way back into the game before halftime courtesy of Olamilekan Adedayo and Jabbar Malik.
Despite going into the break 2-2 at halftime, Ogunmodede raged inside the dressing room, demanding more on the first 10 minutes of the second half.
“If you want to be the best, you be the best. I don’t want any better player. I don’t want any good player here. It’s either you’re the best or nothing,” the coach charged.
Indeed, their winning goal came 11 minutes into the second half and they saw out the 3-2 win.
“If you throw away games like this, you will never come back like this again. And for a champion, you don’t trail twice like this, if not you will suffer for it.
“Ask yourself how much you have suffered in the last 20 minutes of this game. You brought the problem upon yourselves because we didn’t fight like a group.
“Some of you think this is a child’s play.”
The win solidified Remo’s lead in the 2024/25 season, extending their lead above second-placed 3SC by six points.
Their next test is an away game against Sunshine Stars at their home ground in Ikenne on Saturday (today).
