Sokoto seeks military’s help to resettle displaced farmers

The Sokoto State Government has lauded the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, for his commitment to restoring peace and fostering educational development in the state.

The government has, however, sought the military’s support in restoring security in the eastern region of Sokoto, to ensure the displaced farmers returned to their lands and resumed agricultural activities.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Col Ahmed Usman (retd.),  stated this while speaking to journalists on Sunday.

He lauded the CDS for his commitment to peace and educational development in the state.

“The CDS has consistently responded to our requests, which has significantly curtailed attacks in the state.

“Most of the recent incidents involve bandits fleeing military operations elsewhere.

“The state requires military backing to achieve the government’s priority of restoring security in the eastern region of Sokoto, and to ensure displaced farmers return to their lands and resume agricultural activities,” he said.

He also lauded Musa’s commitment to the welfare of the troops deployed in the state.

“Since assuming office, General Musa has visited Sokoto multiple times to assess the progress of anti-banditry operations and has demonstrated unwavering support for the welfare of our troops,” Usman added.

Beyond security, he also praised Musa’s contributions to education, particularly his efforts in renovating his alma mater, Malam Yahaya Abdulkareem Model Primary School, and providing support to its staff.
