Speeding driver killed in lone Ogun auto crash

A driver who was the lone occupant of a private vehicle lost his life along the Siun-Kobape area of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway after crashing into a nearby bush.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a traffic update by the Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi, that the accident occurred at about 9 am on Thursday.

The TRACE CG noted that an eyewitness account indicated that the driver was driving at top speed when he lost control and veered off the road.

A photo of the accident scene sighted by our correspondent showed the vehicle in an upside-down position with a damaged roof part.

He said, “A fatal road crash at the Talabi village inbound Abeokuta at the Kobape-Siun axis of Sagamu Interchange involving a Toyota Corolla with number plate LSR 846 GB.

“According to the eyewitness, it was caused by excessive speeding which resulted in the vehicle losing control. One male adult who was the occupant of the vehicle lost his life.”

He added that the accident led to traffic build up but the situation was brought under control through the efforts of TRACE, police and road safety officials.
