VIDEO: Drama as Akpabio orders Senator Natasha out of senate chamber

A brief drama unfolded on Wednesday in the Nigerian Senate when a disagreement over seating arrangements escalated into a heated exchange between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and the Senate leadership.

The incident began when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was moved at the start of a session overseen by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. However, she refused to comply with the change.

Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, the Chief Whip, quickly pointed out the “improper seating position” of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Senate President.

The altercation escalated, prompting Akpabio to order the Sergeant-at-Arms to remove her from the plenary.

However, Natasha resisted, standing her ground and defiantly declaring, “I am not afraid of you, and I will not be silenced.”

The lawmaker also accused Akpabio of sidelining her, stating that she had been denied several opportunities to present bills for a second reading since their last confrontation.

Efforts to restore order proved challenging, with tensions running high.

The situation was eventually brought under control when the public address systems were shut down, allowing proceedings to resume.
