As the world observes World Radio Day 2025, a Kano broadcast journalist Nura Haruna Mudi delivered a message to his colleagues, particularly young journalists, emphasizing the transformative power of radio and the responsibility it carries.
Mudi emphasized how radio has changed lives and continues to be a powerful tool for societal transformation. “Radio has changed the lives of millions and continues to have the power to transform society and individuals,” he said, adding that the medium carries immense responsibility for truth and justice.
He stressed the importance of integrity in journalism, emphasizing that commitment and sincerity are crucial for shaping narratives and influencing positive change. “If we practice journalism with commitment, integrity, and sincerity, we not only shape narratives but also influence positive change in society,” he stated.
Mudi highlighted the role of journalists in educating and uplifting communities. “Our words have the power to educate, inspire, and uplift communities,” he said. “In this profession, the truth we broadcast is more than just information; it is a responsibility and an act of service to humanity.”
Addressing young journalists, Mudi reminded them of the divine awareness of their intentions and actions. “Every truthful story you tell and every good deed you do will never go unnoticed. Even when no one is watching, Allah is aware of our intentions and actions,” he said, urging them to remain dedicated to justice, truth, and the betterment of society.
Reflecting on the personal impact of radio, Mudi shared, “Personally, radio has shaped my mind and transformed my life. It has given me a voice and a purpose,” encouraging his colleagues to use their platforms for good.
He concluded with an inspiring call to action: “Let us continue to use our voices for good, for the rewards of sincere deeds are eternal and abundant. Stay committed, stay truthful, and let your voice be a force for positive change.”
As World Radio Day 2025 is celebrated, Mudi’s message serves as a reminder of the profound impact of radio and the responsibilities of those who wield it as a tool for informing and inspiring society.
