70-Year-Old Man Arrested for Aiding Kidnappers in Jigawa  

A 70-year-old man, Malam Danlami, has been arrested by Community Watch vigilante operatives in Jigawa State for allegedly aiding kidnappers in the abduction of five women.

Danlami was apprehended in Dutsinma Local Government Area following intelligence reports linking him to criminal activities. The suspect, a resident of Turare village, reportedly confessed to assisting a notorious bandit leader, Alhaji Kuda, in orchestrating kidnappings.

According to Danlami, his role involved identifying potential victims and alerting the kidnappers. “I called Alhaji Kuda, and he sent his boys to kidnap five women, including the wife of a man identified as Engineer, two wives of a man called Ibrahim, his sister, and another woman,” he admitted.

He further explained that while he facilitated the abductions, he had no involvement in ransom negotiations. “The kidnappers didn’t discuss the ransom payment with me, so I am not aware of the amount requested,” he said.

In a video obtained by security sources, Danlami pleaded for forgiveness, vowing not to engage in such activities again. “I will not do it again, and if I do, the law should take its course,” he said.

Meanwhile, a notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, recently threatened to launch attacks in response to the arrest of his relatives. In a related development, armed bandits abducted passengers and set their vehicle ablaze in Kwanar Jalab village, Zungeru Ward, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

While it remains unclear if this incident is connected to Turji’s threats, the security situation in the region continues to deteriorate.
