Abductors demand N30m to free Katsina Qur’anic recitation winner

Abductors of the winner of the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, Abdulsalam Rabi’u have demanded the sum of N30m ransom.

Rabi’u, an indigent of Katsina State, emerged winner of the competition (Hizb 60 with Tajweed) held in Kebbi State early.

As a result, Governor Dikko Umar Radda invited him to Government House for a special recognition ceremony on Tuesday, March 11.

However, Rabi’u while returning home to Faskari, alongside his father and five members of his family members were abducted.

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu-Zango, said the abductors had demanded N30m ransom.

The commissioner revealed that the state government received information about the kidnappers’ demand on Friday.

He added that Governor Radda was deeply concerned about the situation and making every effort to ensure the release of the victims, adding that he has directed security agencies to take all necessary measures to rescue them unharmed.
