APC Will Reclaim Kano in 2027 – Akpabio Declares

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is well-positioned to reclaim Kano State in the 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence that with key figures such as Senator Basheer Lado, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, and APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje leading the charge, the party will regain control of the state.

Speaking on Thursday, Akpabio reaffirmed the party’s strength, stating, “Ahead of 2027, we are confident that with Senator Barau, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and your strategic self, Kano is already in the kitty of APC.”

In his remarks, Akpabio also dismissed speculation regarding alleged leaks of sensitive information between the Presidency and the Senate during Senator Basheer Lado’s tenure as Special Adviser on Senate Matters.

He described such claims as baseless, insisting that Lado had demonstrated exceptional dedication in his role.

“Let me put on record that since Senator Lado assumed office as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on National Assembly (Senate Matters), we have not had a single leakage of private communication between the Presidency and the Senate,” Akpabio stated.

He emphasized the importance of confidentiality in governance, adding that leakages could undermine national security.

Akpabio went further to praise Lado’s contributions, crediting him with fostering a stronger synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government. “Your performance in office over the last eight months has been unprecedented, making the relationship between the executive and legislature more robust and rewarding for the good of all,” he noted.

In response, Senator Lado appreciated Akpabio’s leadership and unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of unity in governance.

“Mr. Senate President, your presence here is not only symbolic of the harmony between the executive and the legislature; it is a testament to the power of unity, the strength of shared vision, and the boundless possibilities when leadership is anchored on service,” Lado stated.

He also described Akpabio as a “dependable ally” of President Bola Tinubu, commending his efforts in promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda through legislative action.

“In you, Mr. President has found not only a dependable ally but a statesman who understands the delicate art of governance and the importance of cooperation over confrontation,” Lado added.
