Bauchi Governor Postpones Sallah Durbar Festival Until Further Notice 

The Bauchi State Government has approved the postponement of the 2025 Durbar Festival, a major cultural event traditionally held during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The decision, initially made by the Bauchi Emirate Council without prior consultation with the government, was later endorsed by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed. Despite earlier preparations for security and logistics, the governor approved the postponement while expressing regret over the lack of prior communication.

Announcing the decision on Friday, March 21, 2025, the governor’s media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and ensuring the smooth organization of such events in the future.

The Durbar Festival holds significant cultural and economic value for Bauchi, attracting residents, tourists, and dignitaries. The state government apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured the public that measures would be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Governor Mohammed also extended his Sallah greetings to the Emir of Bauchi, the Emirate Council, and the people of the state, wishing them a peaceful and joyous celebration.
