EFCC nabs 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Niger

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Kaduna Zonal Directorate, has apprehended 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Chanchangi Local Government Area of Niger State.
In a Sunday statement released on the agency’s official X handle, titled “EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger,” the commission disclosed that operatives recovered two vehicles and 13 mobile phones of various brands during the operation.
“The arrests, carried out in broad daylight at White Hotel on Thursday, February 27, 2025, followed credible intelligence linking the individuals to fraudulent online activities,”it read.
The EFCC assured the public that the arrests were conducted professionally, with no incidents of misconduct or abduction.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement noted.
This crackdown comes barely a week after the EFCC apprehended 59 suspects on Abacha Road, Mararaba, a major link between Nasarawa State and Abuja.
During that operation, 73 mobile phones were recovered.
The Commission, according to the release, continued to intensify its efforts in combating cybercrime and other forms of financial fraud across the country.
