Eid-el-Fitr: Gov. Yusuf Urges Peace, Togetherness
The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Kano and beyond on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to uphold the virtues of patience, compassion, and unity cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor emphasized the importance of sustaining the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness beyond Ramadan. He called on citizens to support the less privileged and work towards building a more harmonious society.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us continue to demonstrate the virtues of sacrifice and selflessness, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan extends into our daily lives. Supporting the less privileged and promoting harmony in our communities should remain our collective responsibility,” the governor stated.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the living conditions of Kano residents, focusing on economic growth, social welfare, and infrastructural development. He stressed that his government remains dedicated to ensuring a prosperous future for all.
“Our administration remains committed to improving the lives of Kano citizens by fostering economic growth, enhancing social welfare, and embarking on infrastructural development that will uplift communities across the state,” he assured.
The governor also highlighted the need for peaceful coexistence among different ethnic and religious groups in Kano, describing unity as the state’s greatest strength.
“Our diversity should be a source of strength, not division. Peaceful coexistence is essential for progress, and we must continue to uphold the values of tolerance and understanding,” he urged.
Reacting to the recent killing of Kano indigenes in Edo State, Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and vowed to ensure that justice is served.
“The killing of our people in Edo State is a heartbreaking tragedy. We will not rest until the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice. Our administration is fully committed to ensuring that those responsible face the full weight of the law,” he declared.
As Muslims mark the end of Ramadan, the governor encouraged them to use the festive period to strengthen family ties, promote reconciliation, and foster peace. He further called on citizens to emulate the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) by upholding justice, honesty, and compassion in their daily dealings.
“Eid-el-Fitr is a time for reflection, unity, and love. Let us seize this opportunity to renew our commitment to peace, justice, and compassion, following the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he added.
