Ex-High Commissioner Ahmed Sule Gets New Diplomatic Appointment

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has appointed Ambassador Ahmed Sule as Special Assistant on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.

Ambassador Sule, a graduate of Political Science from Bayero University, Kano, is a retired career diplomat with over 30 years of experience in Nigeria’s diplomatic service.

His extensive career has seen him serve in various Directorates and Divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, as well as diplomatic missions in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.

Prior to his retirement in 2024, Ambassador Sule held key positions, including Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria in London.

In 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him as Nigeria’s Principal Envoy to India, with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, where he served until December 2023.

In a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministry expressed confidence in Ambassador Sule’s ability to support the minister’s foreign policy agenda.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates the seasoned diplomat on his appointment. He is expected to bring to bear his wealth of experience in the implementation of the Honourable Minister’s foreign policy drive,” the statement read.
