Foundation donates waste evacuation tools to Anambra community

The Obijackson Foundation, in collaboration with the Okija Bu Enyi Brothers Assembly, has donated waste evacuation tools to the Okija community in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The donation includes 140 waste bins, two compactor trucks, two operational Hilux vehicles, a staff bus, brooms and other tools.

The foundation also employed over 100 street sweepers to support the initiative.

The donation, held at St. Mary’s School Field, Okija, marked the launch of the Keep Okija Clean initiative, aimed at sustainable waste management and economic empowerment.

Founder, Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi emphasised collective action for environmental sustainability, stating, “This initiative embodies our commitment to community development and waste management.”

He highlighted plans for a properly engineered landfill and urged residents to safeguard the waste bins.

Beyond waste management, the Foundation has spearheaded initiatives in education, healthcare, and tourism, including Gonzaga Jesuit College, Obijackson Women and Children’s Hospital, and Acropolis Gardens.

Anambra’s Commissioner for Environment, Felix Odimegwu, commended the initiative, noting its alignment with the state’s waste sorting policy.

Dignitaries present included Anambra Waste Management Authority MD, Mr. Mike Ozoemena, and Okija’s traditional ruler, HRH Igwe Emeka Okezie.

Established in 2010, the Obijackson Foundation focuses on literacy, empowerment, nutrition, and healthcare in Eastern Nigeria.
